I am an accredited naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist, health coach and detox specialist. I have been working in the health industry for twenty years, long before it became the delightful trend it is now. Some would say I’m a health expert.
Before I go on, let me explain what I consider to be an ‘expert’ in any field (as this word has been used so frivolously in recent times, and with the advent of social media) –
MY CRITERIA FOR AN EXPERT:
- At least four years of tertiary education in one’s chosen field.
- At least two years of apprenticeship or traineeship experience.
- At least ten years of actual work/clinic/field experience (not just sitting in the comfort of your own home, posting about your experience).
- Have humility to know that they don’t know everything and can never expect to.
To be classed as an expert in my book, one must possess a certain level of education as well as first-hand experience. There is a real reason why some people are experts and others aren’t. Now that we’re clear, I’m happy for you to call me a health expert.
